MERE

In this issue we’ll talk about Cashmere, one of the most valuable fabrics, once considered less prestigious.

Everything started in the mid-1950’s: curious about conversations on Chinese cashmere, Lanificio F.lli Cerruti bought a whole batch, when the only ones to do so at the time were the British. The cashmere arrived from China/Mongolia and not knowing how to handle it, it remained in our stores for months. Thanks to the help of some professionals and through a process called dehairing (egiarratura) we managed to produce cashmere fabrics. Now that it has become a commodity, we decided to innovate by creating hybrid fabrics by blending cashmere with other fibres to bring about distinctive effects and being a very traditional and classic fibre, it can be very versatile.
